In front of and behind the camera - a career with detours.

There was no telling that photography would one day become my profession. It all started quite harmlessly: Growing up on Lake Zurich, I felt much freer outside the school walls. Getting around was my thing, I preferred to leave the study to others. Training as an electrician therefore seemed the right way. My free time was fulfilled by the sea scouts. Set sail - just the thing for me.

To record my experiences, a diary, lazy to write as I was, was out of the question. A camera served me much better and became a faithful companion. Documenting life in this way was fun. I started to like the place behind the camera. At a photo workshop by Markus Bissig (subject “Water and Music”) it clicked: I wanted to be able to take photos. See what everyone sees, but take a picture of it in a way that nobody has seen before. I was fascinated. Fascinated by designing pictures in such a way that they tell their own story.

How my story would go on was clear: I wanted to turn my hobby into a job. It worked, but took a while: two years as a camera technician in the repair shop of Minolta Switzerland, one year as a clerk in a photo laboratory and mainly seven years as a photo assistant and digital operator with great photographers in numerous locations around the world.

This way of learning was a great adventure and has led to the fact that today I am able to work as a photographer for agencies, newspapers and magazines. But it has also led to the fact that I am happy to pass on my experience because I like the way that practical knowledge is imparted. So it's time to get back in front of the camera. With photomundo.
