Japan - away from cherry blossoms and kimono
In his lecture, photojournalist Patrick Rohr takes you on a journey through a country full of contradictions: In Japan's capital Tokyo, he plunges into the dazzling world of pop idols, meets a fishmonger who almost became Mister Japan, gets caught in an anti- Atomic demo, then goes to the city of Onagawa, which was destroyed by the tsunami, only to be introduced to the secrets of Zen Buddhism by an idiosyncratic monk. The trip to Japan that Patrick Rohr made for his book “Japan - Away from Cherry Blossoms and Kimono” took him to unexpected places. The Japanese have opened their doors for him, which is very unusual, and have been photographed in very personal and intimate situations. In his lecture, Patrick Rohr tells the stories that led to the pictures.
