City moments
Observing, with an open eye and yet focused on exciting moments and details, Nadia Knechtle photographs small and large cities in Switzerland. Two shots are combined into pairs of images that create an exciting interaction through formal or thematic similarities. By foregoing color, the photographic expression is abstracted and strong contrasts between light and shadow come to the fore. This aesthetic is complemented by the consciously sought blur, which is achieved by using an open aperture. The images on display show moments of everyday life in Biel, Einsiedeln, Lausanne, Neuchâtel, Rapperswil and Zurich.
