Geoscientist and landscape photographer Christian Klepp takes you on a spectacular journey to remote locations that tell the story of Earth's constant change. With a blend of knowledge and personal experiences, documented through his breathtaking photographs, Christian Klepp brings us closer to the unique beauty of nature and the complex workings of the Earth system. What is our Earth made of, where do its components come from, and how does our planet function? Vivid, comprehensible, and accessible, this presentation is a love letter to our planet.
Christian Klepp
Dr. Christian Klepp studied meteorology and geology at the University of Hamburg and received his doctorate in geosciences. He worked at the University of Hamburg, including as a lecturer, and at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg. In 25 years of work in international climate and Earth system research, he focused intensively on questions concerning how the Earth functions as a system of its individual components and how it is constantly changing.
For 30 years, he has also photographed the Earth's pristine landscapes. This knowledge, coupled with his deep love for the planet and his thirst for adventure, led to the final merging of his profession with landscape photography in 2019. Since then, he has been committed to bringing people closer to the beauty and uniqueness of the Earth, instilling the concept of sustainability in their hearts, and raising awareness of our responsibility in our relationship with the planet. His award-winning photographs have been featured in international exhibitions and lectures.
