South Korea / between tradition and modernity

The Asian country surprises with an exciting mix of pulsating large cities, varied mountain and volcanic landscapes and a long, wild sea coast. The encounter with people is one of the most impressive experiences of a trip to South Korea, be it the contact with the urban population or with the people who still maintain the old culture and sometimes still live in the traditional villages in the country.
The selected images show this contrast between the impressive natural landscapes, the hectic city life in an imposing architecture and the cultural highlights in Seoul, in the region of Gyeongju and on the large island of Jeju in the very south of South Korea.

Three photographers

The photographers Daniel Brändli (AARSO Fotoklub Zofingen and nudeART.ch), Walter Winkler (Fotoklub Thun) and Rudolf Mäusli (Fotoclub Münsingen) visited South Korea together in the summer of 2016. The idea of a joint exhibition came about under the impression of the contrasting mix of city and country and the traditional culture of Korea.
