Refracted Light
Light - when it passes through glass or other transparent objects - is reflected and refracted in a variety of ways. The patterns that result from this can be captured with a camera. This process involves removing the lens from the camera and shining light through a glass object. The object becomes the lens, projecting its focal lines and focal points directly onto the camera sensor or film. The shapes are colored with colored filter foils during a long exposure and are not computer generated or processed in any other way.
If you look at it for a long time, you can see figures or things in the forms, be they dragon wings, dolphins or figures from other galaxies. Different people see different things in one picture; let yourself be carried away into worlds which you create with your own imagination.
Markus Brönnimann
Markus Brönnimann was born in Bern in 1965 and lives with his family in Konolfingen.
For him, photography is a balance to his professional activity and an opportunity to express himself creatively.
The photographic focus is on landscapes and architecture. Again and again he deals with somewhat more specific topics such as the photography of smoke or soap bubbles. He has also been fascinated by light painting for a long time, including the pictures shown.
