Extreme on the go
Martin Bissig's images reach hundreds of thousands of readers around the world. However, the images on glossy paper only tell one side of the story – namely what happens in front of the camera.
Martin Bissig explains how the photographer and the athletes get to the end result in his exciting look behind the scenes of his best outdoor pictures. He talks about various challenges he encounters during his work. Altitude, cold, weather, material, safety, people - all aggravating factors that he is confronted with on his expeditions. How do you photograph at -25° C in winter in the Himalayas? How do you operate a camera at 6740m above sea level on a volcano in Chile? What happens when a top athlete has to be evacuated due to altitude sickness in Africa? How do you react when the jeep's brakes fail in Pakistan? Martin Bissig tells these and other exciting anecdotes, underpinned by his impressive pictures and film clips.
