Create photo books

Every photo book should present photos in a high-quality design. Without basic design knowledge, this is not easy to implement on a photo book platform, especially because of the tempting templates and specifications. The photographer and designer Ralf Turtschi shows with many practical examples how to prepare great photo books and what mistakes you should avoid. The double page is always the observation unit on which photos, texts, lines, surfaces or backgrounds have to be arranged.

  • Is it better to only show one image per page or should one place multiple images?
  • How do portrait and landscape format images relate to each other?
  • Can you mix black and white photos with color photos?
  • How big do I design the text, how do I create effective cover photos?
  • Which paper with which thickness is suitable for my photo book?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of larger or smaller photo books?

The presentation answers such questions, and there are also practical design tips that can be implemented directly in the next photo book project.
