As a photographer, it is important to me to emphasize the dancers' lines. Ballet characters are subject to rules as to exactly what they should look like. Through years of hard training, self-discipline and willpower, you achieve body control that is second to none. And I would like to honor this, together with the dancers, in picture form.
Axel Brand
Axel Brand is a part-time photographer who focuses on ballet/dance and fine art photography.
He started with travel and landscape photography until he moved into studio photography at the beginning of 2017. His style is minimalist, focused on the dancers' lines, coupled with elegance, dynamism, body tension and relaxation. He now gives workshops on various topics in studio photography with participants from across Europe. Mainly in ballet photography but also in acrobatics, sports and nude photography.
His pictures have won numerous awards in international photo competitions (including Trierenberg Super Circuit, Monochrome Awards, Spider Awards) and have been published in various international magazines and art exhibitions across Europe.
Living near Stuttgart, the shoots take place at the Teckstudio in 73230 Kirchheim unter Teck.
