The POLAROID WORK series moves on the borderline to painting. Using the legendary Polaroïd SX-70 camera and instant film, the photographer develops a very personal visual language. In a sophisticated play with blur and little daylight, he elicits new tones from the medium, creating images of fascinating depth with dense, bright colors that appear almost three-dimensional: painting with the camera between figuration and abstraction.
The exhibition presents a small selection of the series in the form of pigment prints.
Romano P. Riedo
For more than thirty years, the Freiburg photographer Romano P. Riedo has been following his own path without worrying about trends or fashions. People are often the focus of his work.
The HINTERLAND project about mountain agriculture was awarded the Swiss Press Award for reporting in 2014. In 2023, the ESTIVAGES exhibition accompanied the Swiss candidacy to include Alpine summering as a UNESCO intangible world heritage site. For HOTEL TOURIST he explored the phenomenon of travel or looked behind the scenes in ICE DREAMS at HC Fribourg Gottéron, when the Russian duo Bykov and Chomutov, the world's best players, shaped Swiss ice hockey and thrilled the entire nation. Many of his works have been the subject of museum exhibitions and have been published in book form.
