Photographed for four decades Michel Roggo worldwide in fresh water, mostly under water. Depending on his needs, he works with a remote control, snorkeling or diving. In 2020 the corona virus thwarted his plans and he had to cancel a long-term project in the Amazon. After waiting for a while, he began to take photographs in the immediate vicinity, often also in the Aare and its tributaries. Since 2022 he has also been photographing revitalized water bodies on behalf of the Canton of Bern’s renaturation fund RenF. The exhibition mainly shows these new underwater photographs, quite a few of which were taken in the Giessen landscape of the Aare near Münsingen.
Michel Roggo
Michel Roggo only started taking photographs at the age of thirty. He quickly specialized in the area of water, such as the salmon rivers of North America or the flooded rainforests of the Amazon.
Started with the experience of over a hundred expeditions Michel Roggo the ambitious Freshwater Project. This was completed in 2017 after seven years and forty bodies of water photographed.
Michel Roggo is internationally recognized as a specialist in freshwater photography. He has shown his work in over forty solo exhibitions worldwide and has won awards in competitions such as Wildlife Photographer of the Year. 23 of his pictures have been published worldwide. He is a Senior Fellow of the iLCP International League of Conservation Photographers.
