Photographic interpretation of Mussorgsky's “Pictures at an Exhibition”
In my pictures I try to capture the multifaceted sound diversity of Mussorgsky's “Pictures at an Exhibition”. By choosing black and white images, I draw the focus to the subtle nuances of the subject, while multiple exposures reflect the complex and dynamic structure of the music.
Both the conscious use of contrast and the integration of motion blur, especially in subjects such as the gnome, give the images an additional emotional dimension.
My goal is not only to create visual representations, but also to enable an artistic interpretation of the soundscape.
Seraina Marchal
Photography has always fascinated me alongside my professional work as a graphic designer. In spring 2022, I decided to deepen my passion further by completing further training in this area.
The combination of photography and graphics gives me the opportunity to create new forms of expression and expand the boundaries of visual representation. In return, my works encourage you to abandon usual ways of looking at things and adopt unconventional perspectives.
My focus is on a minimalist approach to photography that uses experimental techniques to focus on what is initially invisible.
